Romanticizing the Little Moments at SCU

We attend one of the most beautiful universities in California. There are days when I walk through Santa Clara’s campus and feel like I’m in a movie. The sun hits the Mission Church in a perfect golden way, someone’s playing spikeball or tanning on the lawn, and I’m half-convinced the soundtrack to my life should start playing. Maybe it’s dramatic, but there’s something truly special about slowing down and romanticizing the little moments here.

It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of college, with deadlines, midterms, and figuring out which classes to register for next quarter. But sometimes, the smallest moments end up being the ones that stick: drinking coffee outside Benson by the fountain with your friends, watching the sky turn pink over the palm trees on Palm drive, or laughing in your dorm hallway at midnight with your floormates over something completely ridiculous.

I’ve realized that romanticizing life isn’t about ignoring reality, it’s about noticing it. It’s about letting yourself feel that spark of gratitude for where you are right now, even if it’s uncertain. Because one day, we’ll look back and realize these were the days we grew the most, the mornings we were late to class but still stopped to grab an iced coffee, the nights we stayed up too late talking about our futures, and the quiet afternoons when everything just felt right.

Santa Clara’s campus has a way of turning everyday life into something beautiful if you let it. Being the “main character” of your own story isn’t about attention or drama, it’s just about being present.
